Cable/Internet bill went up :(

April 9th, 2008 at 03:45 pm

Food budget, take 2! I have done horribly with not buying snacks and coffee so far this month but I am going to try to do better. It's like as soon as I tell myself NOT to do something, I want to do it even more, ARGH! So, here's to a new day Smile

I need to update my sidebar soon. I haven't really made too many updates to it but I know I few account balances went down and a few went up so I should probably reflect that and see if that makes me feel more hopeful about my situation.

My cable bill just went up. I know a lot of you don't have cable and I am thinking about getting rid of it. I just have to get the rest of the family on board with my plan. I pay cable and internet combined as a package and am afraid if I cancel cable the internet price will go up. With summer coming and being outside I am thinking that is the perfect time to ditch it. If need be I can get it turned back on in the fall/winter. Anyone have any ideas on how to approach the family about this one? For digital cable and internet I am now paying $103 a month. How does this relate to any of you who have cable and internet?

I'm in CNY, and I pay that for cable, phone and RR as a package. I'm also on a special promotion, so that will probably be going up also...

We have the very basic cable (about 10 channels) and that is combined with our internet service. We pay $50 a month for the 2 services.

$99.67 for expanded basic (nothing fancy, just more than 10 channels) plus internet. We are thinking of getting rid of the cable portion ourselves. Just NOT worth it - price keeps going up and losing more and more channels. I have heard that you often can call and get a short term promotional price and I may try doing that. Getting rid of the internet is not an option and we are not going back to dsl or dial up. We're still tossing around our options with this. I can't stand paying so much though. It's not even digital cable!

In my area, I have to have basic cable to get a decent internet speed but since I went to that from digital, I haven't have any price increases. Taxes included it comes to $62.

We just switched companies (install is set for Saturday. We went from a phone/internet bill and a separate satellite bill to one bill with all three services. We were paying $190 for all three before, and the new bill will be about $110, plus tax. I hesitate to give up my cable because we don't go out a lot and family movie night for family shows that we watch together are a big deal for us. Plus baseball season just started Smile And I have to have high speed internet because of my husband's work.
